Our Journey
Our story began with a vision to complement our agricultural training and development initiatives. In August 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we embraced the opportunity to buy and revive a struggling flower business. This Chrysanthemum flower business, owned by Rolf Flowers, was set on a 100-hectare farm at Portion 64 Elandsfontein in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province. This venture marked our entry into commercial farming. Before the advent of COVID-19, about 60% of the flowers were for export. Due to the pandemic's impact, particularly on exports, we pivoted towards a more sustainable model focused on local food production, leading to the birth of AGHorticulture.
